Terms of Service

By accessing or using Unsubscriber at unsubscriber.me (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The Service is operated by [TODO: legal entity name] (“we,” “our,” or “us”).

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using it, you represent that you meet this requirement and that you have a valid Google account that you are authorized to connect.

The Service currently requires a Gmail account and access to Google’s services. If Google’s terms of service prevent you from granting third-party access to your Gmail account, you are not eligible to use this feature of the Service.

Unsubscriber is an inbox-control tool for Gmail. It provides:

• Subscriptions view — a sender-grouped view of your Gmail inbox, showing who emails you and how often.
• Filters — the ability to create Gmail filters (e.g., auto-label, skip inbox) directly from the app, with a sidebar to manage them.
• Unsubscribe — best-effort unsubscribe functionality using message headers (List-Unsubscribe). Outcome depends on whether the sender honors the request.
• History — a read-only log of actions the app performed on your behalf.
• Deals and Receipts (beta) — optional workspaces that use heuristics to classify deal-like and receipt-like messages. These are provided as best-effort and are subject to change.

The Service is not a replacement for the Gmail client and does not provide access to every Gmail feature.

To use the inbox features, you must authorize the Service to access your Gmail account via Google OAuth. By connecting Gmail, you grant us the right to access your email metadata (sender information, subjects, snippets, and message headers). If you use Filters, additional Google permission is requested when you start a filter-related action; we do not request broad write access at initial connect.

You are solely responsible for your Google account and for any consequences of granting or revoking access. We are not responsible for actions taken by Google on your account or for changes to Google’s OAuth policies that may affect the Service.

You may revoke Gmail access at any time from within the app or through your Google Account settings. Revoking access in Google alone disables mailbox features but may leave data we already stored until you use in-app Disconnect (see our Privacy Policy).

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation
• Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to our servers, databases, or other users’ accounts
• Use the Service in a way that damages, overloads, or impairs our systems or Google’s infrastructure
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Service
• Use automated scripts or bots to interact with the Service except where explicitly permitted
• Misrepresent your identity or your authorization to connect a Gmail account

Your account is created via Google Sign-In through Firebase Authentication. You are responsible for keeping your Google account secure and for all activity that occurs through your Unsubscriber account.

If you believe your account has been compromised, revoke access via Google immediately and contact us.

The Service relies on third-party services including Google (Firebase Auth, Firestore, App Hosting, Gmail API) and Google Cloud Platform. Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices or conduct of any third-party provider.

The Service may include links to external sites. We have no control over those sites and accept no responsibility for their content or practices.

We provide the Service on an “as available” basis. We do not guarantee:

• That the Service will be available at any particular time or without interruption
• That the Service will be free of errors or that errors will be corrected
• That your Gmail data will always be fully or accurately reflected in the app (sync is best-effort and may lag)

We may suspend, limit, or discontinue the Service at any time with or without notice.

Unsubscribe actions are best-effort. When you request an unsubscribe, the Service reads the List-Unsubscribe header from the message and either sends an HTTP request to the provided URL or opens your mail application with a pre-addressed email. We cannot guarantee that the sender will honor the request or that you will stop receiving emails from them.

Gmail filters you create persist in Gmail. When you create a filter through the Service, it is created as a real Gmail filter associated with your Google account. If you disconnect Unsubscriber, those filters remain active in Gmail until you remove them manually. We are not responsible for any unintended effects of filters on your inbox.

Restore sender may delete Gmail filters that Unsubscriber created for that sender. It does not remove filters you created in Gmail directly.

Retroactive filter application (applying a new filter to past messages) modifies existing messages in your Gmail account. You are responsible for reviewing filter criteria before applying them.

Deals and Receipts are beta features. They use heuristics to classify messages into categories. Classification is not guaranteed to be accurate or complete. These features may change, be limited, or be removed without notice.

By using beta features, you accept that they are provided without warranty and may behave unexpectedly.

The Service, including its design, code, and content (excluding your data), is owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service without our permission.

Your data (emails and account information) remains yours. We do not claim ownership of any content in your Gmail account.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements, that it will be secure, error-free, or that any defects will be corrected. Use the Service at your own risk.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR FIFTY DOLLARS ($50), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Unsubscriber and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for any reason, including if we believe you have violated these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time by disconnecting Gmail and signing out.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 12–14) will remain in effect after termination.

These Terms are governed by the laws of [TODO: governing law and venue], without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of that jurisdiction.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date above. Continuing to use the Service after updated Terms are posted constitutes your acceptance of those changes. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
